E3

As a seasoned technical consultant there are times one needs to unwind and relax. This past week E3(aka Electronic Entertainment Expo) was taking place in Los Angeles. This is a time where some of the largest gaming companies come out and show off what they have in store in the next 12-24 months.

Microsoft had a wonderful showing, with Ori, Division 2, Halo 5. Sony had their showing of Spiderman. Overall E3 is one of the many time of years where tech people can geek out and just drool over the advancement of gaming and tech. The other time would be CES, CEDIA, Comicon..

As a tech and gamer I was surprised by the content presented, but what needs to change is how we interact with each other. Why are we still pretending this is the past.. Today as a society we are teaching inclusion, why can't gaming be that way. Why can't a Xbox gamer join up with PS4 or PC gamers and vice versa. I'm not talking about eliminating exclusive games but I'm talking about games that are from third party on all platforms like Destiny, Divison, CoD, etc. As Ubisoft mentioned he figures games maybe cloud based next round which means hardware is irrelevant. The first company to solve this problem will be a leader and may even conquer the gaming hill. I really hope Microsoft comes to the table first, they offer cross play between PC and Xbox but will they offer multiplayer between PC and Xbox soon.

As a gamer I find myself bouncing between platforms often all because I lose interest, maybe it's ADHD...
