The fears of AI

With the sudden rush for AI technology there are definitely problems and cyber criminals are exploiting a list. What are some of the things that cyber criminals can use AI to make your life a living hell:

  1. Using AI to blackmail you with edited photos. It’s o different than photoshop but with AI it makes it that much easier. Of course there are digital fingerprints being injected to ensure people know if something was made by AI. But many of us won’t be able to tell the difference.

  2. Using AI to create audio clip of you saying something you never said. Like how you support a group or dislike another group. What makes this worse, creating an audio clip or conversation with someone to steal from you. What do I mean, imagine if someone takes an audio of your voice, runs it through an AI generator to use against you at a bank, or even at work. Now you might be out of a few thousand or more.

  3. AI used to create fake documents using similar language you might use

Look there are many things cyber criminals will use AI for against you so protect yourself. What can you do to protect yourself.

  1. Quit posting your life online. Keep your life on lockdown as best as you can.

  2. Delete audio clips of your voice or edit your audio before posting so your real voice isn’t on the clip.

  3. Scrub your online footprint. Delete things that are old. Set a date and scrub your data as best as possible. Sometimes old data is all someone needs to make your life miserable.

  4. Don’t answer phone calls from numbers you don’t recognize. Even if you do recognize them, set up a secure process to ensure people who contact you are legitimate. We all get them, spam calls from legitimate phone numbers. These ones are getting smart. You answer and with enough words they can create a fake audio clip making you say something or agreeing to something you never did.

Look there seems to be a lot of doom and gloom here but taking a moment and thinking about the situation clearly may save you a lifetime of pain.

The more you know the better chance you have at protecting yourself from scams.
