Public Wireless Networks

With many common places offering free.public wireless access, it has become easier and easier for malicious people to find ways to steal ones data. Most people who have a hot clue about data security wouldn't use a public WiFi network, but many of us are not security experts. A lot of malicious tools are available that can mimic a public Wireless network, try setting your own hotspot up and call it Starbucks, chances are you'll have people connect to your hotspot in no time. Once you have people connected to your wireless network, that's where one can find ways to capture your passwords, using basic HTML knowledge, create what looks like a legit site, but behind everything is just a password logger.

How do you stop this from happening for you, first off if you must use a public Wireless network, don't use it for personal tasks, like banking, emails or sensitive nature tasks. Instead wait till you get home, or just use your cellular data if you really must (cellular data isn't that secure either). Next once you done with using the public WiFi, remove it from your device. Have your device "forget" the public WiFi network. This will at least stop malicious people from trying to make you connect to a fake WiFi network.

As a good practice, always clean up your list of wife networks from your phone, I bet many of you have WiFi networks that you connected to a few years back.
